Hey everyone. I apologize in advance because this post has a little bit of everything from a (re)introduction to why I started blogging to what’s in store for my blog in the future (main reason as to why I wanted to talk today). I didn’t mean for this post to have so much information but sometimes it’s good to write what’s in your heart.
Can you believe that I never formally introduced myself and my blog since I moved my blog to WordPress back at the end of January of this year? Neither can I. I had imported my Intro/What to Expect from my Wix site but that is literally at the bottom of my page, and I don’t think anyone wants to scroll through over a hundred posts just to read it. I think a lot of y’all have gotten a good idea as to who I am and the things I like, but I want to do an updated post for my new readers and for those who just want to read it.
My name is Lauren Bodiford. I am a United States based book blogger. I started Lala’s Book Reviews back in October of last year on Wix and decided to move to WordPress late January because it was harder to interact with viewers. I started my blog to share my thoughts and opinions on books that I read. Like so many others, another reason as to why I want to start a blog was so I would have a better chance of receiving and reviewing ARCs, but I have realized over time that blogging is so much more than that. Through out the months I have expanded the contents of my blog to include weekly releases, tags, unboxings, recommendations, other bookish content, and every now and then life updates.
I like to think that I became an avid reader during my 6th grade year in school (about 2012) when I started to read Percy Jackson, Twilight, and other similar books. My heart still belongs to the young adult genre almost 8 years later. I’d say on average 75 books a year. About 95% of the books I read still fall into the ever growing and changing YA genre, although I am starting to test the waters of new adult books.
Some of my favorite books/series/authors are The Selection Series, Shatter Me Series, The Shadowhunters Chronicles, Lux Series, Sweet Evil Series. My favorite authors are Morgan Matson, Jennifer L. Armentrout, Sarah Dessen, Erin Watt, and Sarah J. Maas (just to name a few). At the moment when I am not reading a book sent to review, I tend to gravitate towards contemporary and fantasy books.
Through my time blogging, I have been able to connect with so many amazing book people. I have seen that there are many book lovers out there that continues to show their love for fictional worlds.
Now that I have gotten the introduction out of the way, I need to talk about the future of my blog and bookstagram. If you recall from last week, I had a big announcement. Well, after a year in college, I got into the Nursing Program!!! I’m so excited to finally start a new chapter in my life, and study more specific information. This particular program is seven semesters, so it’s a little over two years.
Honestly, I’m not sure how my free time is going to look over this time because Nursing school is a full time commitment. I know that the numbers of posts will decrease during my time in school. I will continue to post my weekly releases, unboxings, and tags regularly (or at least as often as I can), but reviews will be a little more sparse. I’m going to try to have posts ready in advance, so I can have a little more consistent posting schedule sort of like I have now.
As for my bookstagram, it’ll be a little bit better because it doesn’t take a while lot of time to take a photo.
I never thought in a million years that I would have amazing followers and readers that I hate the thought of quitting my blog. There may be times where I would have to take mini-hiatuses depending on semesters. I’ll keep y’all up to date on my road to becoming a nurse.
I want to thank each of y’all for being so amazing over my short time in blogging and for supporting me during this new chapter in my life.
Happy reading until next time,
