Abducted by Magic (Guardians of Magic Book 1) by [Gray, Elena, McCracken, Kelli]

Fate has a way of complicating Katarina West’s life.

When a wounded witch transfers her magic to Katarina, she’s left with a power she’s unable to wield as a human. Along with that magic comes four sexy guardians. They’re willing to sacrifice everything not only for the power she holds but also for Kat, a human strictly forbidden to them.

With their destinies intertwined, fighting fate is going to be a lot harder, especially with a killer on the loose, a killer who’s searching for Kat.

Thanks to a traumatic childhood experience, Kat has avoided her grandmother’s tarot readings and premonitions for years. But now she will need to set aside her fears and embrace that lifestyle again. Otherwise, she may not survive what’s ahead.”

All I can say is WOW.

Abducted by Magic has left me speechless (in a good way). Ok so, I misspoke in my last review because Destroyed by Magic is the short story prequel to this book and Consumed by Magic is the novels prequel to a Destroyed by Magic. Also there will be spoilers for those who haven’t read DbM yet and wants to read it. Now that I got that out of the way, I can go on with the review!

Since Katarina has been a little girl, she knew she was special because she was able to see spirits and of other things like witches and shifter. But she has never seen them in real life since she turned away from the paranormal world because of the stress and loneliness it caused as a young age. That is until she inherits magic from a young powerful witch, suddenly throwing Kat deeper into a world she tried to forget long ago. Oh, and if that wasn’t enough, she also inherits four gargoyle guardians to protect her and the magic inside of her because (no stress or anything) it’s the magic that’s supposed to help watch over the coven.

“I never believed that there was one person out there for me—one person who I could connect to on a higher level. That would make the universe cruel. There would only be a one in a million chance of someone finding their soulmate in their lifetime. I didn’t believe in fate or destiny anymore. Believing only brought me pain.”

While Kat deals with the sudden gain of powers and learning the responsibilities that come along with them, she learns that there are things out there in the world that would like nothing more than to see the coven go up in flames. Then to make things even better, she makes a deal that will affect the rest of her life and those around her.

Kat feels an attraction towards her guardians that is more than the bond between them. Quinn, Roark, and Jax (and let’s assume Slate although he is missing) feel the same gravitational pull towards Kat. She has brought life back to their group and is able to connect with each of them that only few can do. The only problem is that relationships between guardians and the person being protected is HIGHLY frowned upon.

“His words, poetic as they were, left me confused. I shouldn’t be surprised. This whole song and dance we kept doing around the truth was on repeat and had been since day one. If I kept these powers, I would be linked to them eternally. Could I honestly spend the rest of my life with them and never have anything more than a duty-bound relationship?”

Kat is a very selfless person willing to take on this huge responsibility of learning how to harness the magic while having to learn who to trust three new guys in order from the to help her. She must accept the psychic powers that she was born with (and later wished away) to help her become the best version of her self she can be.

Abduction by Magic is a fast-paced, slow burn (although there are a few toe curling kisses) where a normal’s girl world is turned upside down when she is leaving a club one night. Not only does she have she to decide if she wants to keep this exuberant amount of magic inside of her, but she her love life (if you can call it that) goes from 0 to 60 in the blink of an eye!
