Book Boyfriend Qualities

Hi everyone!!! I finally have time to sit down and write something! It feels so good to be able be able to talk to y’all; I honestly didn’t realize how much I enjoy this until I had to step back from blogging.

This week has been crazy! I had lecture, skills lab (which I’ll talk about in a minute), and my first test! In lab we had to use crutches, walkers, lifts, how to position and transfer patients, and a couple of other things. Y’all know who the instructor used for one of the things? Me!!! Because I was the smallest in my group, she used me to demonstrate how to turn and position a patient in bed. And update on the guy, we’re kind of talking outside of school now, and we sat next to each other during the test yesterday! Oh, and I passed my first nursing test!

Anyway, today’s post is about some of the things I like in my book boyfriends! Obviously, I’m not going to talk about ALL of the qualities, but I’m hoping to hit the major ones!

A Booknerd/ Someone Who Quotes Literature

Y’all there is nothing cuter (not going to use hot because it’s one of those things that makes me shudder, idk why) than a guy who reads or just randomly quote a book, famous or not. Examples: Will Herondale, Edan (from Spin the Dawn), and Nathaniel (from Sorcery of Thorns).

“Life is a book and there are a thousand pages I have not yet read.”

– Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare

Smirks and Half Smiles

I’m not sure what it is about these things. Maybe because smirks are associated with bad boys, and the half smiles with the boy next door guys. IDK, but every time is see smirked and side smile, I swoon! Example: Daemon Black, I feel like his is up there competing for the king of smirks!

“Smirky mouths make you want to kiss them, to smooth them out and kiss the smirkiness away.”

– The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han

Music Lovers

As a person who’s always listening to music, I feel like these guys understand me in a way that others might not. And there’s a certain confidence and attitude that musicians have. There’s nothing sweeter than a guy just sitting down to play an instrument (or sing)! Examples: Oliver and Alec (from The Heartbreakers), Oakley (from When It’s Real), Victor (from The Ghost Bird Series), and Clay (from You’d Be Mine).

“Life, he realize, was much like a song. In the beginning there is mystery, in the end there is confirmation, but it’s in the middle where all the emotion resides to make the whole thing worthwhile.”

– The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks

“Bad Boys” with a Deep Backstory

Would I ever date a bad boy? Mmm, it depends, but I think that’s why I love to read about them. A lot of the bad boys in books are often misunderstood by society and more times than not they are really good guys who have a lot of stuff to work through! Examples: BASICALLY EVERY GUY IN A CONTEMPORARY BOOK

“The funny thing about armor is that it doesn’t just keep other people out. It keeps us in. We build it up around us, not realizing that we’re trapping ourselves.”

– The Unbound by Victoria Schwab

Guys Who Show Emotions

I think this one is really important because it shows that they aren’t afraid to have deeper conversations, cry, and be anything other than one dimensional. There’s the stereotype that guys are supposed to be emotional less and it show anything, but I love a guy who is able to show those deeper parts because they are more real!

“…you know that a good, long session of weeping can often make you feel better, even if your circumstances have not changed one bit.”

– The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket

The Guys Who Wears Glasses and Graphic T-shirts

Idk why, but some guys feel like they look like nerds or geek, but most of them look so cute and smart. And guys who wears graphic tees are so cute and nerdy with their pop culture references! Example for the glasses: Clark (from the Unexpected Everything), Kota (from the Ghost Bird Series), Simon Lewis (from the Shadowhunters Chronicles), gah I’m drawing a blank.

Spending Time with Family

As a teenager (young adult), sometimes it’s hard to find to time with family and to catch up with each other because we are all so busy. But, it’s great to have those moments with the people who care so much about you and play or hang out with siblings and taking time to update parents. Examples: Who knows because parents are the mythical things in books!

“The second rule is family is a choice.”
I thought about that. “You can’t choose your family. It’s all blood relations.”
“Family consists of people you care about, who care about you, who try to make an effort.”

– Liar by C.L. Stone

Sarcasm and Snark

These guys always keep me on my toes because you never know what to expect from them. There is never a dull moment with them. Examples: Daemon Black, Will and Jace Herondale, Logan (from Match Me If You Can), Lennon (from Starry Eyes), tbh the list could go on!!!

“Let me guess,” Logan said. “You got detention for”- he pursed his lips as if he were deep in thought- “dog-earing a page in a library book.”

– Match Me If You Can by Tiana Smith

What did you think of this post? Should I do another one later? Let me know below!

Happy reading until next time,

  1. Love the list. I agree in some and disagree in some but that is part of the fun of reading (you made me think of doing a similar post, with less effort because lazy 😂 if you don’t mind I’ll give you credit for the inspiration if I do a post like this). Btw. I LOVE THAT FINALLY I FOUND SOMEONE THAT LOVES Lennon AND Logan 😍 Did you enjoy those 2 books or just the characters?
