Hi everyone! I’m back with more book box recommendations! In this post, I’ll be talking about book boxes that I’m not a subscriber of, so I’m unable to give you may full thoughts on them! In the first post I talked about:
- OwlCrate
- Fae Crate
- LitJoy Crate
- Luminary Box
- Uppercase (although it’s no longer in operation).
Please note that I live in the US and my experience will be different from those who live overseas, also I am not a rep for any of these companies. Some of these companies have Instagram reps that have discount codes for your first order!
Fairy Loot

My Thoughts:
I had received a FairyLoot box a long time ago for my birthday because I had found out that the theme was ‘All about That Sass’ or something like that. At the time, I really enjoyed the box, but didn’t really like it enough to ask for a subscription because the price of shipping was crazy since it was coming from overseas. Over the past year since I’ve joined social media and I have some of the gorgeous things they’ve done to their books *cough, cough* sprayed edges, and I was so excite to see them open a fulfillment center in the US with lower shipping prices; so, I decided to give them another go with the October box (which should be shipping soon)!
Once Upon a Book Club
Once Upon a Book Club is a subscription box that sends out both YA and Adult boxes! They are based out of the US and ship internationally
Includes:
- 3-5 WRAPPED Items
- A New Book
Special Edition Boxes:
- Halloween
- Christmas
- Mother’s Day
- New Yews
Payment Plans:
- Monthly – $34.99 (+ shipping); the YA and Adult boxes are the same price
Shipping Price:
- US: $9.50
- Canada: $ 17.00
- Rest of the World: $26.50
Shipping Date:
- 17th-20th of the month
My Thoughts:
Although I’m not currently subscribed or bought a box of theirs in the past, I think they have something really cool and special with their boxes because of how the box is set up with the wrapped items. The wrapped items have a sticker on them that has a page number, so the reader is supposed to open the gift when they get to that part of the book. The only down side to this for me is that I’m not always able to start a book as soon as I get it, so I could have these wrapped gifts laying around (or I could just open them and not get the full experience, see my dilemma).
Illumicrate
A UK based book that has been around since the summer of 2015. They offer a variety of different subscription plans, and they offer virtual book signings and special edition boxes!

My Thoughts:
Based on my research, Illumicrate looks like a great book box, but being in the US it’s going to cost an arm to ship it.
Unplugged
Unplugged is a US based book box that has both YA and Adult versions! The sends out seasonal items based on the time of the year. This box is big on unplugging from technology and taking self-care time to unwind and relax!
Includes:

My Thoughts:
I think Unplugged has a great idea by promoting items that people to take time for themselves and to relax! The only down side is that it’s a little pricey for me and although I like the thought of getting these items, I don’t think I would use them as much as intended.
