Will I Watch the Book to Screen Adaptation?

Hi everyone! The past few days have been super busy, but I’m sitting down to make time to talk about some of the recent (let’s say past five years and upcoming year) book to screen adaptations I haven’t seen and if I’d watch it or not! I’m not typically one to watch a whole lot of movies because I just can’t commit to spend a couple of hours while I have stuff to do, but lately a lot of show and movies are being based off of books. Some of the adaptations I only want to watch because the book was so crazy (not necessarily in a good way) and I want to see if it’s better or sometimes it’s of a book I really loved and want to see it play out on the screen!

P.S. I Still Love You by Jenny Han

Y’all I can’t wait for Valentine’s day so I can finally watch the sequel to the To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before! I watched TATBILB when it first came out on Netflix and actually loved it more than the book (but I cant tell you specific from the book so that may have something to do with it). I feel like I might have connected with Lara Jean a little more by watching here story unfold on camera than on the pages.

Me before You by Jojo Moyes

First off, I was quickly spoiled by the girls in school whenever this movie came out, and I just couldn’t bare to see Sam Claflin (aka Finick from The Hunger Games) go through what he does. Ultimately, I just couldn’t watch this movie because I live for HEAs. I feel like based on the trailers I’ve seen it has a Nicholas Sparks meets The Time Travelers Wife vibes and they don’t make me feel any better.

After by Anna Todd

I read this book earlier this year right before the movie came out. I was so excited to read this book because HELLO Harry Styles based fanfic; I mean you had me hooked right there. But, as I was getting deeper and deeper into the book, I found the relationship to be very toxic and didn’t know if that would carry over into the movie. I’ve heard that the relationship isn’t quite as bad in the movie, and my friend watched it not to long ago and said it was ok. And, it was just released on Netflix, so maybe I’ll watch it soon and might to a compare and contrast post??? (you can read my review here)

It by Stephen King

Obviously, I’m not going to watch the newest one because a) I haven’t seen It Chapter one b) I DON’T LIKE CLOWNS and c) I don’t like horror movies.

Let It Snow by John Green, Maureen Johnson, and Lauryn Miracle

Will I watch this next year when it comes out on Hulu? YES!!! This was the only John Green story that I actually like plus who can say no to a meet cute on a train while it’s snowing outside.

Five Feet Apart by Rachael Lippincott

Was I planning on watching the movie or reading the book? Not at all because it was giving off major The Fault in Our Stars vibes and well that story didn’t have a HEA, so I’m staying far away from stories that gives me these vibes, but I had recently read a review of this book, and decided to give the book a go. I even bought a copy from Book Outlet, so I guess we know what I am doing over Thanksgiving break. Then, I have to find a way to watch it. Is it on DVD yet (plus Cole is in the movie and who doesn’t love him)?

The Sun Is Also A Star by Nicola Yoon

I still don’t know if I want to see this movie or not. I literally got half way through the book and put it down, but at the same time I want to finish it because I hate having unfinished books lying around. I loved Everything, Everything and enjoyed the movie adaptation. I’ll probably be more likely to watch the movie that finish reading the rest of the book at this point. I understand the situation that the characters were going through but a was always giving super bitter vibes from the characters and didn’t really see any light at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully seeing on screen will change my opinion and will give me a push to finish the book.

The Perfectionist by Sara Shepard

I’ll tell you right now, I’m not about to get sucked into another show set in the PLL world. I watch most of the PLL series on tv and liked it a lot better than the book, but I quit watching the last two or three seasons and watched the last episode right before Netflix took it off. Plus, I’m kind of over high school set show right now, at least the ones like this one with murders and all that stuff.
