Immortal Mayhem by Elena Gray and Kelly McCracken
“What happens when you get invited to a Halloween party full of Supernaturals? Total mayhem.
After breaking up with my mooching boyfriend, I was ready to spend Halloween at home drowning my sorrows in a bottle of wine.
That is, until my sexy neighbor, Trevor, invites me to an exclusive party.
Like a fool, I turn him down, only to have second thoughts after he leaves. Shoving aside my anxiety at attending the party alone, I dig through my closet only to find a skimpy witch costume.
With my goods on display and a bottle of wine for courage, I enter a fantastical world of demons, fairies, mermaids, and vampires.
It all seems so real, but it can’t be. Supernaturals only exist in movies. At least that’s what I keep telling myself. If I’m wrong, I may not leave this party alive.”
Immortal Mayhem is a fun short story following the main character Claire a couple of weeks post break-up on Halloween when her life changes for better or for worse (I’m going to say for the better since she meets a couple of swoon worthy guys but that’s just me).
This is a great story to read not only because it’s a quick read (it took me about an hour) but because the majority of the story takes place during a Halloween party where EVERYTHING isn’t as it seems and it was so much fun to navigate that party as a main character who thought everything was just costumes and special effects for the holiday until some crazy stuff has her rethinking everything she thinks she knows.
Claire is such an average girl like many of us taking life day by day and dealing with picking up the pieces of her life after being in a toxic relationship for over a year. Then, Trevor comes knocking on her door to invite her to a glamorous party causing Claire’s life to become more interesting by the second when she meets vampires, fairies, werewolves, and every creature in between at this strange party where you can’t tell fact from fiction; she even ends up meeting royalty…
This story is a fun story that has elements of fantasy that I haven’t seen in what feels like forever and makes me want to jump back into that genre. As I was reading, I could imagine the heat from all of the bodies dancing to the burn of the alcohol going down to the glimmering fairy wings!
Honestly, I’m not sure if I want to tell you to read this book now or to wait until the next book comes out because if you’re like me, then you’re going to be wanting the book ASAP!
Happy reading until next time,
