Hi everyone! It’s no surprise that I’m a huge 5SOS lover. I’ve been fangirling over 5SOS for more than 5 years. I love this band because before they were famous, they had such a ‘normal’ beginning. They worked for their dream and stayed true to who they are as people and musicians. So, the time has come for me to finally muster up the courage to create a book tag! I’ve been looking for a bookish tag that has to do with 5SOS for a while and found a couple that dealt with their earlier music, but none of them really called out to me. So, I going to make one that has a small combination of all of their music! I’m so excited!!!
Who is 5 Seconds of Summer (5SOS)?
5SOS is a four piece band that started back in 2011 in Australia; the band consists of Luke (lead singer and guitarist), Michael (singer and guitarist), Calum (singer and bass player), and Ashton (singer and drummer). The guys started posting covers on youtube, discovered by Louis from 1D, and later moved to the UK to pursue their music career. They toured with 1D for a couple of years and since have making music of their own. They push the boundaries of what is means to be a band and are bringing back sounds that haven’t been seen in a while.

Unpredictable: A book that makes you want to throw caution to the wind and do something crazy
The Geography of Lost Things by Jessica Brody. I mean, what’s crazier than going on a road trip with you ex-boyfriend for several days and trading up different items with random internet people? After reading this book, I almost want to pack a few items and find someone to ride around the surrounding states for a couple of days and not have to worry about life.
Gotta Get Out: A couple that faced a lot of hardship together but come out stronger on the other side
Feyre and Rhys. Look, this couple has been through it all. Death (bless us because I about died when you know who went in ACOWAR), celebration, and more trials than any couple should face in a short time span.
Kiss Me Kiss Me: Who’s a character that leaves you wanting more?
Honestly, it’s Aaron Warned from the Shatter Me series. TBH, I didn’t really like him (I think like most of the general population), but I started to warm up to him around the time when Adam was acting like a um *cough, cough* in Unravel Me. Warner is one of those character who likes to stay a mystery to keep ahead of people, but he holds a dear place in my heart because he has those moments where he does something really sweet and two seconds later it’s over because Kenji walks in.
Never Be: A couple that lived in the moment and didn’t let life stop them.
Axi and Robinson from First Love by James Patterson and Emily Raymond. Y’all these two characters Carpe Diam before it happened. Robinson decided one day to take Axi one a road trip, and the memories they created during that short trip will leave you happy, heartbroken, and so many other things. In the story, a pretty big thing is uncovered and gah, it makes them live even harder as the clock ticks.
18: What’s a book that labeled as YA but is more NA?
Recently, there has been a lot of books that are being sold as YA when they really aren’t because let’s be honest YA books reach a wide amount of people. One of the first books that come to a lot of people’s mind of being mislabeled is ACOTAR because Rhys’s wingspan if you catch my drift.
Another book that took me by surprised with its NA-ish content is Damsel by Elana K. Arnold. Damsel is a retelling of the general fairytale of the prince saves the princesses in a Sleeping Beauty type way. And y’all, the stuff between the pages really took me by surprise.
Ghost of You: What quote makes you emotional every time you read it?
“Break my heart. Break it a thousand times if you like. It was only ever yours to break anyway.”
Do I need to say anymore?
Want You Back: A series that you go back to time after time
It’s going to have to be the Ghost Bird series by C.L. Stone. This is one of the few series that I can reread and never get enough of. Maybe its because there are 12 books out with the promise of more, but its one of my absolute favorite series. It’s also fun because it takes place in South Carolina about 2 & ½ hours away from me!
Woke Up in Japan: What book left you with a nasty book hangover?
I don’t know about y’all but Clockwork Princess had me. The epilogue part is 92% of the reason and the other 8% is when Will was trying to court Tessa after the whole shebang went down.
“His eyes were steady and blue; they were everything that Will was: true and tender, sharp and witty, loving and kind. “Marry me,” he said. “Marry me, Tess. Marry me and be called Tessa Herondale. Or be Tessa Gray, or be whatever you wish to call yourself, but marry me and stay with me and never leave me, for I cannot bear another day of my life to go by that does not have you in it.”
Babylon: Which couple caught fire quickly and burned out just as fast?
Tessa and Hardin from After by Anna Todd. No joke, they caught fire like they were doused in gas. It went from Hardin hating Tessa to a physical relationship to meeting his family to moving in together in an off campus apartment to the whole thing crumbling down into a million pieces.
Broken Home: Who has a deep backstory that tore you apart?
Rhys from ACOTAR. From the beginning Rhys had never had an easy life. He was the bastard child that worked hard to get were he was, then he spent almost 50 years under the mountains serving and evil woman only to find the one who is meant for him has been through her own dark moments. Can we please take a moment for him?
Daylight: What supernatural thing can you read about and never get sick of?
Werewolves. *Gasp* I know, this is such a shocker. There’s something about werewolves that I love. Maybe it’s because I have pet dogs, or the fact that they are supposed to mate for life. But, I’m constantly searching for a werewolfish book to read.
Jet Black Heart: A morally gray character that hopes the other person can accept them for who they are
The other week, I finished Feather by Olivia Wildenstein, and this is the first time that I truly understand what a morally gray character is. Jarod is like the leader of the mob in Paris, but he takes out people who have done bad things. Then Leigh show up in his life to try to save his soul, and despite the opposing morals he wants nothing more than to have her.
She Looks So Perfect: Whose an author that you recently discover only to find out that they aren’t a debut author and has released other books?
Brigid Kemmerer. I read A Curse So Dark and Lonely this year, and after reading it, I was looking to see if there was going to be a squeal (because at the time, it was still unknown to the public) and was surprised to see that Brigid had several other books out before ACSDAL was released.
Teeth: What upcoming release are you most excited for?
Every Reason We Shouldn’t by Sara Fujimura. This book is coming out in the later part of February, and after I read the synopsis for it the other day, I was instantly hooked and wanted to read it.
“Sixteen-year-old figure skater Olivia Kennedy’s Olympic dreams have ended. She’s bitter, but enjoying life as a regular teenager instead of trying to live up to expectations of being the daughter of Olympians Michael Kennedy and Midori Nakashima…until Jonah Choi starts training at her family’s struggling rink.
Jonah’s driven, talented, going for the Olympics in speed skating, completely annoying… and totally gorgeous. Between teasing Jonah, helping her best friend try out for roller derby, figuring out life as a normal teen and keeping the family business running, Olivia’s got her hands full. But will rivalry bring her closer to Jonah, or drive them apart?”
