The Mystery Blogger Award Parts III and IV & The Awesome Blogger Award Part III

Hi everyone! Happy Friday! I’ve been nominated for a couple of things and finally have time to do them! Danni @ _forbookssake and KB @ KB Book Reviews both nominated me for the Mystery Blogger Award and then KB nominated me for the Awesome Blogger award as well!

The Mystery Blogger Award was originally created by Okoto @ Okoto Enigma’s Blog.

What is The Mystery Blogger Award?

The Mystery Blogger Award is an award for amazing bloggers with ingenious posts. Their blog not only captivates; it inspires and motivates. They are one of the best out there, and they deserve every recognition they get. This award is also for bloggers who find fun and inspiration in blogging; and they do it with so much love and passion.

The Rules:

  • Put the award logo/image on your blog.
  • List the rules.
  • Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  • Mention the creator of the award and provide a link as well.
  • Tell your readers 3 things about yourself.
  • You have to nominate 10 – 20 people.
  • Notify your nominees by commenting on their blog.
  • Ask your nominees any 5 questions of your choice.
  • Share a link to your best post(s).

Things about Me:

  • I’m a Libra… does anyone want to know this? Probably not, but it might tell you why I have certain traits.
  • I prefer to be that person who have a few close friends than a lot of people I don’t really know but talk to when there’s no one else around.
  • I love to drive around with the windows down on warm days with the music playing loud.
  • I’m always wearing contacts (except when I sleep).
  • I love to wear wedges! I’ve tried to wear high heels, but I haven’t been able to master walking in them
  • I hate wearing long sleeves. I would rather wear a tshirt and a hoodie then pull the hoodie off when I get inside then having to wear long sleeves all day.

Danni’s Questions:

Who is your favourite artist? and what is your favourite piece of art?

I kind of answered this question earlier, but I don’t really have favorite artist. I studied art history in high school, and we started in pretty early in history when people painted in caves and made things in stone. I spend a lot of time going towards art that is bright although I also love those the grayscale artwork as well.

If you could invite any 3 people (dead or alive, real or fictional) to a dinner party, who would you choose? and why?

Brad from The Vamps because he is absolutely adorable, Luke from 5SOS because I love him, and Harry Styles since he’s Harry and he’s just living his best life right now.

If you could only read one author for the rest of your life, who would it be? and why?

My go to answer is JLA because she has literally everything from fantasy to mythology to contemporary to paranormal, and with her I would have a variety of genres to read. But in all honesty, it so hard to pick one author because each author has such a unique writing style and a different message that we need at different times.

Are there any books/series which you think are overrated?

Y’all I feel like there are so many books that have so much hype, and I just don’t understand. One that I don’t really understand is Leigh Bardugo books (I know, going right for the strike). I’ve read Shadow and Bones and enjoyed it (would give it a solid 4 stars) but I don’t see all the hype surrounding the Grishaverse. I’ve tried to read Six of Crows and haven’t been able to make it past the first couple of pages.

Which books would you love to see a TV or movie adaptation for?

I’d love to see The Program Series by Suzanne Young be made into a TV series. I had read the first four books a while back and loved the story and the development of the world. I think it would be an interesting thing to see on scene with the teenagers basically having their memory erased to ‘fix’ any suicidal thoughts in the younger population.

KB’s Questions:

How do you organize your bookshelves? (Colour, Alphabetically, by Genre?) And what do you think it says about you?

For my bookcases with all of the books I’ve read, the main organization pattern I have is by how much I enjoyed the book or series! So, on the left bookcase, I have my favorite books with some of the overflow on the top shelves of the middle bookcase with the lower half being the ‘it was good, but I’d probably never reread it’. Then the last bookcase is the one that hold the books that were ok reads or books that I read back in middle school.

Then on my TBR bookcase. It’s more of a whatever looks good next to each other while being able to fit the most books on there without breaking my shelves.

If you could date/partner up with/be best friends with any fictional character who would you choose and why?

Why must y’all make me choose just one??? I’ll say Daemon Black just because he’s really snarky and sweet all rolled up into one.

What was the last book you read that completely captured you, drew you in and made you feel incredibly strongly about it? The book that you will forever recommend to everyone because it is just beautiful or powerful?

All My Love, Alec Brock by Larissa Lopes. I was contacted by Larissa to read her book, and I said yes without reading the synopsis since the book was influenced by some of our favorite musicians and I didn’t even think to stop to see what the book was actually about.

This book covers everything from first love to anxiety and stress to depression and a couple of other things. I felt an instant connection with the characters from the first couple of pages and was hooked by their story.

Why do you read? What is it about reading that makes you love it and spend hours on it?

I have a post about this, but I love reading because it provides me a way to relax after a long day and is a way for me to do something for myself.

What three fictional characters combined make up your personality? Do you have the stubborn brains of Hermione Granger, the loyalty of Samwise Gamgee, and the kind nature of Newt Scamander? Or are you witty, flirty and full of charm instead?

I have Amy’s (from The Bookworm Crush) love for books and talking about books online and preference of having more fictional boyfriends than real ones. Then Katy’s (from the Lux Series) love for blogging, gardening, and books, her sassy attitude, and love for bad boys. Then lastly, Rhys’s loyalty and hope even in the darkest of times.

Some of My Favorite Posts:

The Awesome Blogger Award

The award was created by Maggie @Dreaming of Guatemala.

The Rules:

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you
  • Credit the creator
  • Tag this post with #AwesomeBloggerAward
  • Answer all the questions given to you
  • Nominate some people
  • Write 10 questions for them to answer

Do you prefer Bookstagram or Book Twitter? Share your social links

I’m a twitter person! Don’t get me wrong, I love bookstagram, but it can be so stressful since I treat my account a little bit more seriously than twitter.

Do you listen to music while reading? Or have you a favourite song that you associate with a particular book?

I listen to music all the time, even when I read. Music is one of those things that helps me relax and get into my own little world, so it helps enhance my reading time! I have my go to playlist on my ipod that has about 700-800 songs that I normally put on shuffle!

Certain songs will also remind me of particular scenes, characters, or books in general, so I could be listening to a song and be taken back to that place. I often include playlists in my book reviews and have a post with about 75% of them (since I haven’t updated it in a while)!

What would you like to be remembered for?

I want to be remembered as a genuine person who was always there to help! The world is filled with people who are putting up this illusion to be more popular IRL and on the internet, and I just want to be that person who others can come to for advice or just to talk about a long day or running into their crush in the store and having that awkward encounter.

Who is your favourite musician/band/singer?

I love top 40 pop and the pop rock stuff. I listen to a lot of 5SOS, The Vamps, 1D, Hunter Hayes, Taylor Swift, and Shawn Mendes. I also listen to Blink 182, Green Day, All American Rejects, and The Chainsmokers (gasp, I know). My taste in music is all over the place.

Who or what are you most grateful for in life?

My family and friends. I mean, without them who would I be.

What is your favourite book to film adaptation?

It would either be Twilight or The Hunger Games. The first Divergent movie was pretty good, but the series itself had died for me when you know who was killed in book three, and I couldn’t watch anymore of those movies.

What are your hopes for your blog in the next year?

I want to be able to write more posts that are from the heart and trying to make things more normalized in the book world.

You are going away on a relaxing holiday for a week. Where would you go and what five books would you bring with you to reread?

I’d go to the beach, and would bring Of Poseidon by Anna Banks (because beaches and merpeople, seems fitting), Paper Princess by Erin Watt, Lola & the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins, Obsidian by JLA, and On the Fence by Kasie West!

It’s nice to be important but it’s important to be nice. What is the nicest thing someone has ever done for you?

Recently, it would have to be them letting me take care of them. In clinicals, there are people who are kind of wary of a student nurse taking care of them because we’re still learning and don’t have a lot of real life experience, but to have a person put their complete trust in me to take care of them as if I’ve been working for years is one of the best things.

How many books have you read so far this year?

As of today, I’ve read 16 books! I had a really good month in January because I wasn’t in class for about the first half of the month, and I was able to read a little bit more the last week or so!

My Questions:

For the Mystery Blogger Award:

  • What is your vision for a perfect day?
  • What is something that you’ve overcome as a blogger?
  • Where are you on you yearly reading schedule? (on track, behind, ahead)
  • What is your preferred method of reading?
  • What is the worst thing that has happened to one of your books?

For the Awesome Blogger Award:

  • What is the last book that you’ve bought (or been gifted)?
  • Would you rather be able to read every book that you want and feel meh about it (as in it was ok but nothing special) or reread your favorite 2 books for the rest of your life?
  • What animal would you love to have as a pet?
  • What is your favorite ice cream topping?
  • If your life story was made into a movie, who would you want to play as yourself?
  • Do you ever read a book without reading the synopsis or reviews about it?
  • Where is somewhere that you’d love to visit during the winter?
  • Are you a night owl or morning person?
  • Do you eat fries with ketchup?
  • What is your favorite comfort food dish?

So the following people I’m nominating are nom. for both of these awards, but you can pick either of them if you only want to do one!
