Reading Habits Book Tag

Hi everyone! I hope y’all are doing well! The past couple of days, I honestly haven’t felt like doing much which sucks when I love blogging and reading, but I had a case study due later tonight (which I finished a few hours ago). You would think that having all of this free time would mean getting through that overwhelming TBR… well not in my case.

I’m hoping that now that I have that assignment done, I can start to get back to reading! I also started to write another story! I think that I almost have enough of it written to post the first part!

I thought that doing a book tag would be a good way to ease back into the waters.

Anyway… I found this tag a couple of weeks ago on Danni’s blog @ _forbookssake and the creator of this tag is TheBookJazz!

Do you have a certain place at home for reading?

No, I don’t have a designated reading area right now! Hopefully, one my family and I get the big room converted to my future bedroom, hopefully I can set up a small reading nook. But honestly, I read wherever I can if that’s sitting of the floor or on the couch or on my bed.

Bookmark or random piece of paper?

I use whatever I have available whether it’s a bookmark, receipt, or a sticky note. I personally like sticky notes because I can stick on the line I stop on and if the stickiness wears off then I just stick the paper between the pages.

Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/a certain amount of pages?

I can stop wherever, but if I’m a page or so out from finishing a chapter then I try to finish it. And, whenever I read books with deckled edges, I tend to read to where the pages either go down to the lowest point of to the highest pages.

Do you eat or drink while reading?

Yea, I definitely drink while reading and I eat some things depending on the messiness of it.

Multitasking: Music or TV while reading?

I always listen to music while reading because using earbuds helps block out noises. But I cannot listen to music that I’ve never heard before because I focus on the song and zone out on reading. I can read while listening to TV only when it’s of shows that I’ve seen a lot but listening to TV is more of a distraction to reading.

One book at a time or several at once?

I can read several books at one! Right now, I’m between about 4 books (2 contemporary, 1 paranormal, and one short story). I’ve always been able to read multiple books at once.

Reading at home or everywhere?

Everywhere! I can read in a car, outside, at school, it really doesn’t matter.

Reading out loud or silently in your head?

In my head… could you image how loud I could get with headphones in? I could be yelling a scene that I don’t want everyone to hear loud enough for my chickens to hear.

Do you read ahead or even skip pages?

Yes, I read ahead… sometimes I read the end of the book about 75 pages in or I flip to a random page and read a little. I typically don’t skip pages unless the author starts to go on and on about stuff then I tend to just skim over the stuff.

Breaking the spine or keeping it new?

Keep it new. As I was reading this I literally gasped when I read ‘breaking the spine’.

Do you write in your books?

I don’t. But for those who annotate their books, I applaud you for either not giving a **** or for being that brave! There are some really pretty photos of books that have been annotated, and I just can’t take the plunge. It gives me anxiety to know that I could mess up and ruin the page (and my book).

Readabits Questions:

When do you find yourself reading?

Whenever. I like reading in the morning since I’m a morning person, and it’s hard to read at night in bed because a) books falling on my face hurts b) if I finish the book and cry, it’s hard to breath (because of the crying) and can’t sleep and c) I’m tired and only read about 5 pages.

What is your favorite setting to read?

With a blanket, my dog, a cup of sweet tea, and my ipod.

What do you do first – read or watch?

I tend to do one or the other now. Lately I’ve just been reading the book and not watching the show/movie just because a) I didn’t like the book and figured I won’t like the adaption b) I’m afraid of the adaption of not living up to my expectation or c) I just don’t feel like sitting through it.

What form do you prefer? Audiobook, e-book, or physical?

Physical! Lately I’ve been reading a lot of ebooks to review for different authors and read a physical book and forgot what it’s like being able to flip the page and feel the paper and having to use a bookmark and everything in between.

Do you have a unique habit when you read?

I don’t think so.

Do book series have to match?

I could care less. Let me tell you. In my Cassandra Clare collection is all over the place. I have the original paperback cover of Clockwork Angel and the new paperback versions of Clockwork Prince and Princess (then I also have the hardcover of Clockwork Princess), the 10th anniversary ed of CoB, the hardcovers of the new editions of CoB, CoA, CoG, the original paperback of CoFA, and the original hardcovers of CoLS and CoHF. Then I have the original hardcovers of Shadowhunter Academy, Lady Midnight, LoS, Lady Midnight, the Bane Chronicles, the old paper back of CoB, CoA, and CoG, and the new paperback of Lady Midnight.

What are some of your reading habits? Let me know below or you can do this tag and link me in it!

Happy reading until next time,

  2. I’m the same with book annotations – I love seeing how other people do it & I fully support it, but I’m too scared that my crappy handwriting & highlighting skills will mess up my book 😂 Also – hats off to you for not caring if your series match, I’m the complete opposite & will hunt til the end of time for an edition that I want 😂
