Calluna eARC Mini Review

Calluna by Jewels Arthur

Now Available

Synopsis:

“Calluna is sassy, snarky, and doesn’t give a crap about, well, anything.

Calluna doesn’t believe in all this love garbage that she keeps seeing all over the town. Nope, she is just fine keeping to herself and her pet store, Beastie Besties, spank you very much.

When a goofy romance book draws her in and she is given a meerkat shifter, a fennec fox shifter, a fallen angel, and a griffin shifter — well, Calluna’s views on love might be in for a whirlwind of change.

Will this whirlwind romance get in the way of the mystery she has yet to solve? There is someone in town cursing animals with dark magic, causing her shop to become a land of misfit pets. Calluna is determined to break the curses and find the culprit but she’ll have to travel down a dark road herself.

Calluna is a paranormal romance that is a part of the Silver Springs shared universe. Calluna will not be choosing at the end.”

Then this book is for you!

This is book four out of thirteen books taking place in the magical town of Silver Springs. After reading Lupine then Calluna, I noticed that the events happen sequently, so it’s best to read the books in order if you’re planning reading all (or more than one) it’s best to read them in order, so you don’t accidentally spoil anything.

I wanted to read this book because some of the mates in this story are shifters of smaller animals like foxes and meerkats, and as much as I love werewolves, I’ve been trying to find books with smaller shifters, so obviously I had to pick up this book!

I like Calluna because she’s a strong willed woman who doesn’t give in easily to her mates. She has such a lovely heart for animals and takes care of these animals that have been cursed by someone. She’s the type of person who’d much rather spend the night watching tv with her pets then going out; until one night she goes to the club and her whole word turns upside down.

The main problem that I had with this was the ratio of sex and steamy scenes to the other things . I know with books with mates sex is one of those things that helps the bond develops into that thing that’s special between the couple, but I felt like every other page, clothes were being torn off, and I was like ugh everything can’t be fixed with sex.

The guys as well were a bit over bearing and a little to alpha for me. Like I like a good alpha love interest, but these guys were always with her and having to one of the guys with her. At some point, it became to much.

Happy reading until next time,
