Daria’s Questions

Daria @ Bookaholic Therapy tagged me last month? I’m honestly not sure because it’s all been a blur, but she is one of the nicest bloggers who’ll keep you on your toes with her sass!

What is your favorite movie? Because I was so lost up there

Honestly, I love Momma Mia! I’m not the biggest fan of musicals (because who breaks out in song IRL all the time), but this is a movie that I watched a lot while growing up and love to watch it every now and then!

Who’s your favorite author?

I have to pick one author… One author that I can always rely on to write exceptional books is Jennifer L. Armerntrout no matter the genre.

What is your favorite book from when you were a kid?

When I was younger, I read a lot of Dr. Seuss books. So, I’d have to go with one of his books (no I’m not picking one particular book). But his books just make you feel good with the rhyming and bright illustrations.

What’s your favorite Disney movie?

I love Mulan for obvious reasons, but I’d have to say that my absolute favorite Disney movie would be Cinderella because I’m a sucker for her love story.

If we’re talking about non-princess related movie, then it would have to be Monsters Inc!

What food will you absolutely not, under any circumstances, eat?

I’m not a picky eater to begin with. I’m the “adventurous” one in my family when it comes to trying new foods. But for now, I’m going to go with raw fish (i.e. sushi) but I haven’t really had a chance to try it…

Do you listen to music while you read/write/study or do you prefere total silence?

I listen to music while doing most everything! It helps block of outside noisy and kind of helps me from thinking about random things while reading or studying. I can’t listen to music that I’ve never heard before then I get distracted by the song, but after I hear it a couple of times I’m fine!

What is the best book you’ve read so far this year?

I don’t know! I’ve read so many 5 star books up to this point of the year from Crave to To Carve a Fae Heart to The Raven and the Dove to All My Love, Alec Brock… So far this year I’ve enjoyed about 95% of the books I’ve read, so it’s really hard to narrow it down!

Autumn’s Questions

Autumn @ Chapter Malliumpkin is one of the absolute sweetest book bloggers you’ll come across! She writes about her love for books and also about mental health and a variety of other things!

What’s one book that you can relate to the most and why?

I’m honestly not sure! The Problem with Forever by JLA is one of my favorite books because the MC is adopted, and it was one of the first books I had read covering this topic. But, I’d probably have to go with To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han because Lara Jean and I are basically one of the same, I just see so much of myself through her character.

Aside from reading, what’s you’re favorite activity to do in self-isolation?

Either listening to music or eating… it’s a close tie!

You just inherited a house, you have one room left to remodel into the dream library. Describe what your dream library looks like and what the crown jewel of this library is.

I’d want the room to be light, airy, and inviting. I’d have floor to ceiling bookshelves (if the ceiling isn’t raised or have vaulted ceilings) on at least one of the walls with a wall of half bookshelves, so I can hang up art prints and posters and stuff. There’d be lights strung up on the walls and bookcases, and I’d have like one of those oversized bean bag looking chairs with pillows and blankets around it!

Besides being a collector of books, what are some of the other things you collect?

Enamel pins, bookmarks, shoes, movie ticket stubs, maps from places I’ve visited, cards, and stuff like that.

Real talk, what’s one topic that you’ve been wanting to discuss on your blog, but haven’t and why?

How’s it’s difficult to get ARCs from publishers. I know that there’s a lot of things that goes into a person getting ARCs, but I’ve emailed two different companies months apart and never hear anything. I just haven’t had time to sit down and write down about this.

What are the top five books you’re planning to buy from your local bookstore this year?

I’m not sure! I couldn’t tell you the last time I went to a bookstore because my town only has a small books a million inside of the mall, so I find it easier to just go a head and order books online. As for the upcoming books I want to buy… I have no idea. I haven’t been keeping a list of upcoming books to buy because I’ve been so busy!

Feel good time! What are five songs that have been keeping your spirits high?

  1. Summer on You by PRETTY MUCH
  2. She Looks So Perfect by 5SOS
  3. Sometimes It Rains in LA by The Vamps
  4. Why Don’t We Just Dance by Josh Turner
  5. Accidently in Love by Counting Crows

Ellie’s Questions

How did you get into blogging?

It began about a year and a half ago when I was in my first year of college. The though of having a book blog had crossed my mind before in the past, but I never acted on the thought, and one night I decided to take the jump and started on Wix. I wanted a place where I could talk about books and recommend some of my favorite since I don’t have many people around me who reads like me. When I started, I didn’t really know that there were other bookish posts to write other than reviews and the whole journey has been a learning process about not only how to run a blog, but developing and fine tuning my writing skills, finding out what books I really enjoy, and being able to talk to other book lovers!

Do you plan posts in advance, or do you write whatever you feel like?

The only posts I write in advance are those for blog tours only because some of the tour companies want the post to be up early in the morning. I’m definitely a write whenever inspiration hits. Sometimes I get ideas and able to write right them but sometimes I need to let my thoughts stew and develop.

What post (or series of posts) are you most proud of?

I’m really proud of my post about YA books not really talking about adoption and foster care! It’s one of those things that is really close to me because I’m adopted. I wish that I had spent longer writing it because I feel like my thoughts are kind of everywhere, but I’m still like the post since it’s one of those things I feel like people need since there’s families new definitions of what a family is.

What advice would you give to someone asking how to write a good book review?

Don’t force yourself to write a review. To me a good book review is one that comes from the heart whether you enjoyed the book or not, and if you’re writing it just to have a post-up chances are it’s not going to be up to your standards. And don’t feel like your review has to be like everyone else’s. As a newer book blogger, I felt like my reviews had to be like these analytic paper because that’s what people think of when they think of a review, but I’ve found out that it’s better to stand out with things like reviews and have different elements in it to make it more unique!

Some of my reviewing process can be found here.

Favourite ice cream flavour?

I love pralines and cream. Idk if it’s one of those things primarily found in the south, but it has candied pecans in it!

My Questions:

  1. What has been the most rewarding thing about blogging?
  2. What is your favorite book of 2020 so far?
  3. What are some of your favorite hobbies?
  4. Do you have any pets?
  5. Which book blew your mind and was nothing like you had expected?

Tagging:

I’m also tagging anyone else who would like to participate for either or both awards (just tag me in the post, so I can read your post!), and if any one of the people I tagged in either award would also like to answer the questions for the other, you are more than welcomed!

  1. I’ve never thought of combining different tags into one post but that’s a great idea (I am literally a month behind on doing tags 😂). Thank you for answering my questions! ☺️

    • You’re welcome! I’ve been combining tags for a while now! I feel like it’s easier on the readers especially when I plan to post a couple of tags in one day!
