Infiltrate eARC Review

*I received an eARC of this book to review*

Infiltrate by Cali Mann

“Spirit Shifters go mad, unless we mate four times.

Bad enough that fate chose them, the Alpha wolf and the Bad Boy vampire, but I don’t have time for these irresistibly sexy shifters when my brother’s life hangs in the balance.

My mother’s murderous boyfriend threatened him, and I will do anything to save him – even infiltrate and sabotage the only academy willing to give me – and my brother – a chance.

Infiltrate is the first book in this why choose paranormal romance series.  Expect a tough heroine, unusual shifters, vampires, bullies, and love in this steamy new adult reverse harem academy romance.

Set in the same world as the original Thornbriar Academy series but can be read as a standalone series. This series is intended for readers who are 18+ and may contain situations which are triggering.”

Then this is the book for you!

I’m honestly not sure how to feel about this book! It was a relatively quick read that I was able to read it in about 4 hours, but the book was a bit slow to hook me. I didn’t get to the point of not being able to put it down until Sasha and Alex made it to the academy. One of the best thing about this book is Sasha and Alex’s relationship. I haven’t read a book in a while with a sibling relationship so strong all because of their mom’s lack of over all care for them basically making Sasha raise him.

Apparently there’s a series that takes place in this world, but this new series (the one that I’m now reading) is able to be read independently. I enjoyed the book for the most part, but I think it would be beneficial to read the other series so you’d have a better understanding of the magical world. There’s four different type of magic (spirit, earth, water, air, and fire) and depending on the type that you are determines the shifter you are, which I find really cool but don’t have a good understanding of who belongs where.

Sasha is a good main character because she cares so deeply for her brother that’s she’s willing to go with him to the academy for the supernatural to ensure her safety even though she could go crazy soon because she’s a spirit shifter who has uncontrollable magic unless she finds a mate with each of the other elements. The one quality I didn’t like about Sasha is that she used her looks to try to get her way, but that’s partly thanks to her mother who’s always bringing strange men in to buy her stuff.

Then we have the two shifters mentioned in the synopsis. I’m not going to mention names just because it could be slightly spoilery.

Let’s talk about the vampire love interest. At first he sees Sasha as a way to rebel against his father who wants to control every aspect of his life since spirit shifters are looked down on in the community. But he soon realizes what they are. He wants to protect her from damage, but Sasha won’t let him in fear that he could get hurt. Yet, they somehow still spend time together and learn things about the other.

Then, there’s the werewolf shifter, who is every bit of the alpha who doesn’t want to mate with a lesser. Well the human part of him doesn’t while the wolf is all for it. I’ll be honest, he’s a jerk to her each and every time they have some interaction.

Yes, I’m kind of invested in this series because I need to know who the other two mates are (although I have a pretty good idea, but I need to actually see it).

Plus, I’m warning that there’s a MAJOR cliffhanger… so read at you own risk!

Happy reading until next time,
