The Folklore and One Direction Book Tag

Hi everyone! I’m back today with another tag post in honor of one of my favorite things… music! If you’ve been following pop culture over the past couple of days, then you know that One Direction had their 10 year anniversary and had released some of the songs they had preformed but never published, posted retouched music videos, and have a bunch of other little things that fans are still trying to figure out. Then, if the music world wasn’t shook enough, Taylor Swift dropped an album with less than 24 hours notice.

This post contains The Folklore Book Tag and The One Direction Book Tag!

If you’re interested in music related book tags check out my 5SOS Book Tag!

The Folklore Book Tag

This particular version of the Folklore Book Tag was created by Ilsa @ A Whisper of Ink who ever so graciously tagged me! Have I listened to Taylor’s newest album? No, but I’m super excited! I believe that this album has a indie feel since she isn’t under management anymore where she has to follow their rules! Also, the graphics I’m using are also created by Ilsa!!!

Are we talking a good or bad speechless? Because the ending of Crossing the Line definitely has a bitter sweet ending that I wasn’t expecting at all and had me crying.

If I’ve said it once I’ve said it a hundred times, the ending of Clockwork Princess. I just can’t think about it without crying but since I’m older I can appreciate the ending a little more (but it still makes me cry). I can’t even read the wedding scene that’s in Chain of Gold because it brings back to many memories.

This is going to have to go to A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer. It’s a wonderful retelling of Beauty and the Beast. I had read it towards the beginning of 2019 and fell in love with the world and the concept of this particular retelling. I tried my hardest to write a review for this book but was unable to fully express how I felt.

The Cruel Prince… That’s all I have to say.

Only a Breath Apart by Katie McGarry. I was only 3 or 4 pages into the book and I was already ugly crying. Then there were other parts of the story that had me crying… basically I had to have a box of tissues on stand by while reading this book!

Call me basic, but I’ve felt like I could have easily been Lara Jean from To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han. About 4 or 5 years ago when I read it, this was one of the few books at the time that I knew of (if not the only one) with Asian American MC, and this book will always hold a special place in my heart because Lara Jean helped me embrace my feelings.

The Giving Tree. My parents read this book a good bit to me when I was little, but it wasn’t until recently that when I was looking through children’s books for a writing creative class that I fully understood it.

I have a list of summer books here, but one that I recently read was Meet Me at Midnight by Jessica Pennington! This is a fun frienemies to lovers story about two teenagers who spends a couple of weeks in neighboring houses on the lake who have an epic prank war. Until this summer where a prank goes wrong and could cost them their time at the lake.

All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven is the first book to come to mind. It’s safe to say that by Finch and Violet were both dealing with stuff to end up at the top of the tower in the beginning of the book. Did I grasp everything that was happening when I read the book? No, but in my defense I was a freshman in high school, hadn’t taken any psychology classes, and this was way before taking about mental health was something people did. But whenever I think about this book, my heart hurts for Finch and how no one really intervened until it was to late.

Oof, there are so many. Sweet Reckoning by Wendy Higgins gave me an awful book hanger years ago. This is the last book in the series and so much had happened. There were quite a few deaths, and shortly after the resolution of the book, it ended. But luckily Sweet Temptation was released shortly after I finished Sweet Reckoning, so I was able to get some extra scenes from Kai’s POV and it soothed the ache a little.

I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and each book we read came into our lives at a specific time when we need it. So to not really answer the question, I’d say that all of the books I’ve read has inadvertently came at the right time and taught me something.

I’m going to have to go with Feyre (I’m feeling basic again), but I really enjoyed her as a character during the ACOTAR series.

Any book where the MC dates a musician. It’s one of my favorite tropes because I can dream for a little bit that I’m able to be with one of my favorite singers and travel the world with them. There’s also something super sweet of having someone strumming the guitar and singing to you while sitting under a tree (not sorry that the country in me is showing).

Recently, it would be Luke Greenly from More Than Maybe because he is literally my dream boyfriend on paper. I just can’t explain to y’all the amount of love I have for this character because it’s like all of my wishing has led me to this book. Now if only I could find someone like Luke in real life!

Truly, Madly, Royally. I had huge expectations for this book because a the cover is so cute and looks like a great great fluffy contemporary book. But, I felt like there were a lot of plot holes and misrepresentation of the characters.

One Direction Book Tag

This tag was created by The Critiques of a Fangirl a couple of days ago in honor of 1D’s 10 year anniversary! I honestly didn’t realize how much I missed 1D until I heard the live version of What Makes You Beautiful and started crying.

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you
  • Credit the creator
  • Use the tag #COFOneDirectionBookTag
  • Pick a different book for every question (Optional)
  • Tag whoever and as many people as you want

Louis Tomlinson – A character with a rocky past

Can I just say about 95% of the characters from fantasy books? But let’s with none other than what started out with 1D fanfic and say Hardin from After. I’ve only read the first book, but I know that the boy went through a lot before we see him during the events of After. I couldn’t tell you if he is ever able to cope effectively with what happened, but I’d definitely say that he had a rocky past.

Zayn Malik – A morally Grey character/a brooding, dark and mysterious character.

Noah Shaw from the Mara Dyer/Shaw Chronicles (plus he also fits the Britishness of 1D). On the scale of morally gray, I’d say that Noah is leaning a little bit towards the side of being good (from what I can remember and read). Noah has his secrets, and we’re left to try and figure him out most of the books.

Liam Payne – A underrated character

I’m going to say Kenji from the Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi. Sure, Kenji gets a good amount of attention now, but I’ll be honest, even I didn’t appreciate him like he deserved when I first read the main part of the series.

Harry Style – The heart throb

Another book inspired by 1D, The Heartbreakers by Ali Novak. Oliver is (from what I can remember) basically an exact replica of Harry minus the British accent.

Niall Horan – The underdog who reached the stars

Annie from You’d Be Mine by Erin Hahn. She’s the daughter of two singers who had a tragic love story, and once she decides she wants to get back into music, she wants to do it on her terms with her band behind her and not become so byproduct of the country music industry.

Up All Night – The best debut novel/first book in a series that you have read

I’m going to have to say Match Me If You Can by Tiana Smith! This was Tiana’s first book, and it was so much fun! Plus, Logan is the absolute best given that he doesn’t give a flying flip and is always doing something that’ll make you laugh.

Take Me Home – A book/series feels like home

The Bookworm Crush by Lisa Brown Roberts! This is another fun book that features a bookworm who has to work with her crush in order to try and win a competition to meet one of her favorite authors! While spending so much time together, things start to shift in the relationship and the tables turn.

Midnight Memories – A book you stayed up reading until early hours of morning

Mmmm… I’m going to have to pass because I don’t normally binge read late into the night/early morning.

Four – Best Squad/team in a book

This is between the ACOTAR group or the ones from the Shadowhunters Chronicles (mainly TID/TMI).

Made in the A.M. – A book/series that occupied your ever waking thought.

The Lux Series by JLA! I had spent at least a good 4 or 5 months reading and trying to get the rest of the series. All I can say is that I was hooked on Daemon and Katy’s rollercoaster of a relationship trying to figure them out!

Tagging whoever would like to do either or both of these tags! Make sure to link me in the post so I can read your answers!

Happy reading until next time,

  2. Thank you so much for doing this tag 💕🥺😁😭😊 I had fun reading your answers

I’m definitely gonna check out the 1D fanfics you’ve mentioned here.

All the other books you have mentioned sounds amazing and I’m gonna look them up and add them to my TBR . I love the inner circle in the ACOTAR series (can’t believe I forgot about them 😅)

I still haven’t heard folklore but will soon, right now I’m on a 1D binge 😁😁

Thanks again for doing the tag 🥺😁😊
