Hi everyone! Today I’m here with another original book tag in honor of 5 Seconds of Summer’s 9th anniversary today (Dec. 3rd). I had created another 5SOS related book tag last year I believe and wanted to take it all the way back and create todays prompts based on their 1st 2 EPs Unplugged and Somewhere New along with their first album! I have all of the songs on a playlist, so I’m going to shuffle it and create about 10-13 prompts based on the randomized songs!
5SOS is an Australian pop-rock band that has been apart of my life for the last 7ish years, and I’ve had the pleasure of watching them develop musically and as a band over that time. Each of their albums has a different feel, and I can’t wait to continue to hear their evolution.
Who is 5 Seconds of Summer (5SOS)?
5SOS is a four piece band that started back in 2011 in Australia; the band consists of Luke (lead singer and guitarist), Michael (singer and guitarist), Calum (singer and bass player), and Ashton (singer and drummer). The guys started posting covers on youtube, discovered by Louis from 1D, and later moved to the UK to pursue their music career. They toured with 1D for a couple of years and since have making music of their own. They push the boundaries of what is means to be a band and are bringing back sounds that haven’t been seen in a while.

Long Way Home || Stop Time with a Book That Makes You Want to Live in the Moment
For me it might have to be Today, Tonight, Tomorrow by Rachel Lynn Solomon. This book follows two seniors right before their graduation when they play Howl which is an epic game that is basically the baby of tag and a scavenger hunt between the senior class with a prize for the last person standing. I love the enemies to lover change between Rowan and Neil through the course of the night as they find themselves working together to take out the competition. I think this book makes me want to stop time and live because I graduated high school a few years ago, and I remember all of the fun moments with my friends and class, and I’m able to relive those feelings of excitement for this chapter ending and starting another one with TTT!
Gotta Get Out || A Character Who Face Many Challenges That Strived for a Better Life
I’m going to say my go to answer and say most character whether they are from a contemporary, fantasy, or sci-fi book because most people love to read about the underdog who perseveres through the hardship.
But, I mean, how could I not mention characters like Rhys and Feyre and Celaena. When Rhys spent close to 50 years under the mountains to keep his people safe and Feyre who went back to the Spring Court to give them a standing chance in the upcoming war. And, Celaena (which I haven’t read all of the books, but have a pretty good idea of what happens) who honestly doesn’t seem to give up despite whatever comes her way.
Out of My Limit || A Couple That Are in Different Social Groups
*my heart says Maxon and America*
But, I’ll go with Stella and Oliver from The Heartbreakers by Ali Novak. Obviously with this post, you can probably see that I love music, and The Heartbreaks was the first book I had read where you average everyday girl ends up dating a musician. At the time, I never really thought about the life of a musician and after reading this book, it made me start to think about some of the things they go through.
To read about the girl who goes to a CD signing for her sister and ends up being not only the band photographer, but the girlfriend of the lead signed who is basically Harry Styles, it just let me live my fantasy of dating a musician and being able to travel the road with him while having a job.
Everything I Didn’t Say || A Book Where the Character Tried to Fix a Broken Relationship
I’d say Only a Breath Apart by Katie McGarry because before the book began Jesse and Scarlett were near inseparable until things changed, and they couldn’t be farther apart. But, when Jesse needs Scarlett’s help save his family’s farm he wants nothing more than to have that same friend with Scarlett all those years ago. She’s still hurt about what happened but at the same time needs someone to rely on given everything that happens at home.
Jasey Rae || A Book That Should Have a Modified Ending
The book that still haunts me to this day… Allegiant by Veronica Roth. That’s all I have to say.
Independence Day || A Character Who Leaves a Toxic Relationship
Well, Tessa kind of did at the end of After, but she goes back to Hardin at some point so that doesn’t really count.
Dreamland by Sarah Dessen. I haven’t read this book since it deals with a toxic relationship and is the darkest book Dessen has written to date, but I read the first few pages and it was obviously a bad relationship. And hopefully given Dessen’s nature for HEAs, I hope that Caitlin was able to leave Rogerson.
I Miss You || A Morally Gray Character That You Can’t Get Enough Of
After reading Crush by Tracy Wolff, it would have to be Hudson with Warner from the Shatter Me Series in a close second!
Never Be || A Couple Always Lived for the Present Moment
I’d have to say Katy and Daemom for the Lux Series by JLA because of the scene from book 4 where they did a really spur of the moment thing without anyone knowing!
Too Late || A Book with Unrequited Love
What’s the John Green book where Q goes to look for Margo? Paper Towns. Would that be considered unrequited? Did Q have feelings for Margo? I can’t remember, but when I think of unrequited, I think of the one sided relationships where the feels are never reciprocated by the other person.
Tomorrow Never Dies || A Group of Characters Who Lead a Rebellion
I mean like 99% of all the fantasy/sci-if books written in the past 10 years. For example:
- The Hunger Games
- The Darkest Minds
- The 5th Wave
- The Red Queen
- Shatter Me
Beside You || A Book with a Long Distance Relationship
Oh good heavens. Give me a second. There’s Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between by Jennifer E. Smith about these two recently graduated high schoolers about to go off to college, but not before they take a trip down memory lane through they entire relationship to see if it can handle the strain of being apart.
Heartbreak Girl || What Character Makes You Heart Ache because They Aren’t Real
Clark from The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson. Look all I can say is that Clark is a teenage author of a popular fantasy series who wears glasses, has abs, and love dogs (and he has a pretty cool personality)!
Unpredictable || A Book That Had You Constantly Trying to Figure Out What Was Happening
We Were Liars by E. Lockheart. You know there’s so many theories about how this book ends and what actually happens in this book that I never formed an solid opinion of my own other than I didn’t really like it. There was so much that was left to the reader to decide, and I didn’t like it.
