This is another tiktok made me buy it book because of the romance.

Romance wise, yes it was hot, but there wasn’t a lot of romance scenes which was a good and bad thing. Good because we were able to read an actual story with hundreds of pages of them ripping off their clothes without any story progression, but at the same time I wish there was a little bit more romance scenes.

Ave is the pureness to Alex’s dark soul. She radiates love and happiness and looks for the good in people while Alex is cynical, brooding, and has unbreakable walls that are extra fortified. After the death of his family right before his eyes as a young child he trusts (using that term very loosely) very few people. After 8 years, Ava’s brother Josh has become Alex’s closest true friend and in turn, Alex has seen a lot of Ava over the years.

Alex keeps a close watch over every aspect in his life and has an obsessive quality that makes it where he has to see something through leading to him devoting many years of his life to seek revenge for his family’s death, but what he doesn’t expect is to get feelings for his best friend’s younger sister.

Josh was able to get Alex to keep Ava out of trouble while he’s going on a trip for medical school in Central America and left Alex in charge of keeping up with his house which is right next door to Ava’s place.

Ava has always had a soft spot for Alex, and she sets out on a mission to prove that the emotionless Alex does have feelings after all which leads to them spending a good bit of time together.

After an incident at a pool party and seeing the male attention that Ava attracts, Alex finally admit that she means something to him which he wasn’t expecting to admit, but he still only shows her a small portion of himself.

But Alex still has his revenge planned, and with so many enemies and sketchy people in the business world, he’s not sure if a relationship with Ava is a good idea considering how Alex hasn’t had anything that could be used against him up until Ava.

I enjoyed this book because of the amount of emotion that was showed through both Ava, Alex, and Josh presented throughout the story. I love Ava’s ability to love despite her horrible childhood that she had repressed for so long. Then Alex reminded me so much of Aaron Warner from the Shatter Me series if it had been in a contemporary book because he has that cold personality and is willing to burn down the world to get what he wants. Throughout the book, it was really an experience to see the change in Alex.

This book has a great cast of dynamic characters and a strong plot that will have you reading all throughout the day to finish the book!

Happy reading until next time,
